    When I was a kid, we were told Daddy Long Legs were venomous, but that their legs were so long, they couldn’t bend far enough to bite you with their tiny little heads.

    The creature I know of as the Daddy Long-Legs is the http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opiliones . This name certainly seems regional; I grew up in Nebraska, USA.

    Colin clearly hasn’t thought through the implications of his Smurf chess set idea. It’s a fairly important requirement of chess sets that the pieces come in two different colours. Smurfs are all blue!
