    You folks have amazing patience.
I had a hard time not yelling at my monitor.

It really seems like she knows that many of her predictions could be tested and that if they were she would not be as successful as she thinks she is. Thus the insistence, much like that of psychics, that there will be an observer effect. If someone is testing it then it won’t work. Special pleading at its finest. I also found it intriguing what she stated about pointing out things that had happened in the past to her clients. This seemed to me to be another correlation with psychics in that she is using cold reading techniques when making her predictions.

Good on you for how non confrontational you guys have remained in all of these interviews. Keep it up!

My sadistic side enjoyed this episode more than last months, purely because Deborah refused to understand the importance of evidence based reasoning. Jacqui O’Reilly on the other hand was, and is very open to testing and the results therein. Very reasonable of her, but not as entertaining as someone side-stepping perfectly succinct reasonable questions!

Another great interview but I’ve no idea how you managed to talk to her so calmly without screaming “you’re making it all up and you know it” as Nate said it was all about special pleading, well done Hayley and Michael.
If I may indulge in a spot of bad Plagiarism:-
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue
If you can fill the unforgiving podcast
With forty nine minutes worth of content run –
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Skeptic my friend!

“If someone else claimed to have the same ability as you and you suspected they were either insincere or mistaken, how would you go about determining whether that person’s claim were true or false?”

I’ve had success posing variations of this question when engaging someone who claims special knowledge. It’s relatively easy for these people to dodge the burden of proof (“my powers won’t work if there is a non-believer witness to them”), but by casting they themselves as the investigator many of those avenues of escape are closed.

As others have commented, I find this podcast equally enlightening and infuriating and I marvel at your restraint during the interviews.

The interviewer could have asked many more probing questions had he seemed more familiar with the Philosophical basis of Western Horary Astrology. It was a very simpliistic, even superficial, interview.Ms Houlding came across as someone with commendable critical thinking skills and plenty of common sense.
