Hey Marsh, the only thing that is playing is you talking. We cannot hear anything that Harry is saying.

  2. #2 by Nathan on December 16, 2014 - 00:02

I don’t know if this is intentional, but this has been uploaded to Skeptics with a K iTunes feed and not the Be Reasonable feed.

    Thanks for uploading,
    Nathan

Fine for me Nate, Marsh is mixed into the left channel and Harrys’ insane ramblings are in the right

  4. #4 by Rob on December 16, 2014 - 11:03

He is only on one channel (right I think) so you’ll need both headphones/speakers in to hear the full (wacky) discussion.

  5. #5 by Steve Chaloner on December 16, 2014 - 13:09

The audio from Harry Rhodes is only coming through one channel (I think the right stereo channel)…so, I only have crazy coming into one ear.

  6. #6 by Another Rob on December 16, 2014 - 14:48

This was one of the more painful interviews I have ever listened to. It is so disorienting to hear someone that is not overtly psychotic finding it so easy to dismiss rational explanations and cling to the improbable and illogical conspiracy.

As a side note, with Marsh coming through the left ear and Harry in the right, it would be an interesting experiment (though certainly unethical) to play this interview for a person with a damaged corpus callosum. Harry, going in the right ear, would be connecting with the left hemisphere, widely considered to be more closely associated with rational thought, and Marsh would be hitting the right brain and creativity and imagination.

Should probably have made clear that, though Marsh is also not overtly psychotic, I was talking about Harry.

I love the podcast, but this one seemed like a real waste of time. It really just came down to, “…(insert crazy conspiracy theory with no evidence)…and that’s a fact.” Maybe if he took off his tinfoil hat he wouldn’t have just come through the right channel.

  9. #9 by Marsh on December 16, 2014 - 16:30

Apologies for the sound glitch, by the way – an error in mixing down. It should be solved this evening, so if you’ve had problems in listening you could check back tomorrow and they should be solved.

Harry Rhodes is on the right audio channel. It’s a hard stereo separation issue.

“The elites have technology that we cannot even imagine.”

Of course, things like pitot tubes, Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) intakes, hydraulic tubes for wing actuators, and high bypass engines.

  12. #12 by Chris on December 16, 2014 - 23:27

By the way, I found his picture of the “plane nozzle.”

It is an Airbus A340-600 dumping fuel:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_dumping#mediaviewer/File:FuelDumpA340-600.JPG

Mr. Rhodes should not have posted that picture on his website without explaining where he got it from:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_dumping

  13. #13 by Chris on December 16, 2014 - 23:35

My comment is in moderation due to links. But on Mr. Rhodes website he has a picture titled “plane nozzle.”

I found the original picture, it is Wiki Commons photo with this caption: “Fuel dumping of an Airbus A340-600 above the Atlantic Ocean near Nova Scotia.”

I guess I should have included “fuel dump capability” as technology only known by the elites (the fuel tanks are in the wings, for those who did not know).

I love this podcast, but this one was really painful to listen to. Nothing you said even made a dent. And what’s up with the whole “contrails are so rare” idea. There’s nothing rare about boiling ice particles becoming steam. Epic crackpottery. I was an airplane crazy kid in the sixties and contrails were commonplace occurrences.

  15. #15 by Jason Jones on December 17, 2014 - 08:51

I wonder if this guy actually believes any of what he has said, it didn’t have the usual credulous pattern, it felt more deceptive (jumping the subject/false authority) kind of a slight of hand with the voice

  16. #16 by NickT on December 17, 2014 - 13:18

Wow! I laughed, I shouted out loud, and above all I was astounded. And that’s a fact.

Thank you to Harry for talking to Marsh, it was a real eye-opener. However I’m not sure how you can even begin to change the mind of someone like Harry who is so far down the rabbit-hole that any perceived evidence, or lack thereof, is further confirmation of the conspiracy. And that’s a fact.

It got so irrationally outlandish, that towards the end, I wasn’t even sure if Harry was hoaxing Marsh… And that’s a fact.

One last thing. Asserting a claim, and then saying “and that’s a fact” doesn’t actually make it a fact.

    Great episode.

  17. #17 by Nate on December 17, 2014 - 22:41

Thanks for the help guys and thanks to Marsh for fixing the issue. My problem was that while at work I listen with one headphone in, which happened to be the left one.

Why is this in the Skeptics with a K feed?

  19. #19 by Stephen on December 18, 2014 - 07:32

Brilliant! I loved this. This guy is batshit insane, but pretty much harmless.

Other guests have disturbed me as they had the capacity to do real harm, but this was a pleasantly amusing listening experience.

I think there’s always inherent ability for harm through any irrational beliefs.

Did you hear Harry’s statements about vaccination? Safe to say he wouldn’t be vaccinating any children he may be responsible for because of his irrational beliefs.

  21. #21 by Leart on December 18, 2014 - 14:25

Loved this one Marsh; great job pointing out the logical inconsistencies in his many conspiracy beliefs. That one person can hold so many conspiracy beliefs all at once is quite frankly unbelievable. Unless he’s hiding something…..

  22. #22 by Chris on December 18, 2014 - 17:02

    Myk Dowling :
Why is this in the Skeptics with a K feed?

Because it is one of the three podcasts done by the Merseyside Skeptics Society, as you can see by the header at the top of the page.

They also do a very funny one called “Incredulous.” You should give that a listen.

Also Marsh and a former “Be Reasonable” co-host Hayley Stevens did a podcast called “Righteous Indignation.” It was much like “Skeptics with a K”, but more cohosts and guests, and segments. One of the segments would be Marsh and Hayley doing an interview much like “Be Reasonable.” Two of those have been posted again on this feed, they were of Vicki Monroe (a psychic) and Jim Humble (a sociopathic quack selling bleach as a cure-all).

Righteous Indignation disappeared, but with a bit of searching the podcasts can be found on places like Podbay. Besides, it is easier to keep track of three podcasts done by the MSS if it is in one place.

Wow I genuinely thank all of you- even those of you who have multiple accounts with more than one name. Oh yes you do. Anyway I`m impressed at 21 comments. I must be right on the money. By the way Paris Climate change agenda will be confirming the additional 500 climate change laws which will definitely affect you all. They have also officially announced (BBC news) that 2 billion people WILL be seriously and detrimentally affected by bringing in geo-engineering and solar radiation management.
    Yep its all here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-30197085
One thing you schills never do is use the English language to flatter yourselves. I said and confirm that the biggest climate and geo-engineering event in August 2014 took place in Berlin. After speaking with the worlds top scientists and Climate legal advisers in person, it only confirmed that what I said is on the money and totally true. Pity you were not there to see it all for yourselves. They were genuinely impressed by how much we actually knew. So, why not join me personally in Paris 2015 and see everything for yourselves. You are the most duped bunch I know of. But then again, I know what your agenda is. Rest assured, they are about to officially confirm these plans publicly. So open your mouths and gulp it all down. When it is all confirmed all your identities will obviously disappear. This will be my first and last comment here as I know exactly how your conversations end. So get yourselves to Paris and hear it with your own ears. If you make it, I will get your drinks in- fact ! So have some bollocks and see me in Paris. I will bet confidently not one of you will turn up !

Harry, I think the reason I don’t currently agree with your hypothesis is because I don’t see the plausibility of such a huge conspiracy, and still don’t understand what the motivations are for such a conspiracy.

Help me to understand. What is your single best piece of evidence supporting your hypothesis?

I appreciate the time you’ve taken to come on the show and talk about your views.

  25. #25 by Chris on December 19, 2014 - 17:16

“Help me to understand. What is your single best piece of evidence supporting your hypothesis?”

And it should not be a photo from the Wikipedia article on fuel dumping. If Mr. Rhodes is an honorable and honest man he will remove the photo from his site labeled “plane nozzle.”

  26. #26 by Nate on December 19, 2014 - 20:16

As much as I enjoy this podcast Harry, I don’t think it carries with it the kind of weight that would require paid shills; if such people even need to exist in the first place. I highly doubt they do need to exist since, much like I mentioned about the podcast, your views and argument don’t carry much weight with the majority of people. You also continue to contradict yourself in that we cannot both have a knowing agenda and be “the most duped bunch” you know. That article doesn’t say anyone WILL be harmed by anything. It is saying that they are looking into the costs and benefits of different methods of controlling climate change, via geo-engineering, and that there may be huge costs to doing these things without more research. Which is what they are proposing: more research. Also I am still sincerely confused on what the possible motivations to doing this outside of Global Warming, which you don’t think exists.

If any of you are getting paid in here, I want my cut damnit!

I can assure you who read this “blog” that there are no such things as “chem”trails. I have been a pilot for over 40 years total, last 23 at a Major airline here in the USA.

Much ‘nonsense’ has been put onto the Internet, over the last several years….actually since about the mid-1990s.

There is a “meme” that has developed, as a result. High-Bypass Turbo-Fan engines DO make more prominent CONtrails….(which are basically just simple “Ice-clouds” that are really not all that different from OTHER cirrus “ice-clouds”).

Lemme try to use a bit of “math” to help everyone out….Let’s imagine just ONE contrail that is only ONE mile long? Let’s make it 50-feet diameter.

OK? 50-feet-wide column, one mile long? We can use online calculators to determine the actual “volume” of this…(it is just under 12 million cubic feet). An online source:
    http://www.online-calculators.co.uk/volumetric/cylindervolume.php

OK, so far? Still with me?? Now….airliners, in cruise flight WHEN they make a contrail are flying at about 450 to 480 MPH…means, 7.5 to 8 MILES PER MINUTE!! Means….for ONE mile, takes only about 8 or less SECONDS!.

So, please think about it….”how” can passenger airliners carry “stuff” that is visible (and ONLY at cruise altitudes) that is capable of this???

KNOW that this “one” mile, “50-foot” contrail that is almost 12 million cubic feet? Same as a 20-story building that is about 228-feet wide and deep (do the math!).

KNOW also that the former WTC Towers ! & 2 were only 208 feet wide. Really….do the math. CHECK “MY” math….and think……

That was truly enjoyable. It’s a FACT!

I admire Marsh’s ability to restrain tones of incredulity and ridicule while that conveyor belt of conspiracy was trundled past. Perhaps “big nano” has altered him. 😉

    Well done!

  29. #29 by B Dexter on December 31, 2014 - 12:21

My favourite line was “elites of this world have technologies you and I couldn’t even imagine”.

Fills in the gaps in his arguments with another conspiracy theory.

I’d hate to be stuck in a lift with this one.

  30. #30 by B Whitehead on January 6, 2015 - 15:54

Astonishing! A nanobot that can produce a lobotomy! Electromagnetic waves that will pulp brain cells! Challenges to virtually every scientific domain that I know of.

Nothing would ever change his mind, but it was really fascinating peering over the wall and also slightly scary.

Marsh, too much of this stuff really cannot be good for you!

  31. #31 by Pdubyah on January 10, 2015 - 22:26

    Numpty with a N

As one of your ‘viewers’ This was the least credible theorist that I’ve had the pleasure to listen to.

“I know this for a fact”…. oh dear
““The elites have technology that we cannot even imagine”, you need to get out more.
    “Radiation is everywhere”…..

I started muttering to myself when listening ‘Current’

when you were trying to get the number of the pool of pilot people who know about this 75K. – good try, move along nothing to see here…..

These are a really good primer for critical thinking, thank you for the time and effort you put in to bring us such joy.

  32. #32 by David Fraser on January 13, 2015 - 14:24

A fascinating and polite interview. I am a follower of the chemtrail hoax. Could I ask Harry Rhodes a question?

You reference the work of Roger Revelle. However you state that he has changed his mind on Greenhouse Gases and has been trying to push his view through Congress. Could you tell me the mechanism he has followed as well as his supporters given that he has been dead for over 23 years?

  33. #33 by Colin King on February 15, 2015 - 14:50

Favourite quote “he’s a scientist in wavelengths”. 😀
