Skeptics with a K: Episode #199

Flip-flops, green pills, nail polish, and saline injections. Plus crystal infusions, boring lectures, gene expression, and medical students. Lacking in significance, it’s Skeptics with a K.

Another excellent piece on the placebo effect from Mike, really enjoying the ongoing exploration of evidence and its complete misrepresentation in some quarters.

Just listened to Alice’s segment – it seems very strange that the company claims their cream changes gene expression but doesn’t state what they are comparing it to. With no control array, the microarray assay is worthless!

    Loved the episode!
I would also like to second the view that a placebook should be published! At the very least a website, where information about the claims about the placebo can be found, as well as your disputations to those claims. followed by links to the actual studies! <3 pleaaaaase! Im way to much of a lazy fuck to search for my self πŸ˜›
