It’s a small point I don’t wish to make too large, but it sounds as though the Singapore dome mentioned refers to the Cloud Forest Dome. This is a botanic garden exhibit that’s climate controlled and its power comes from a combination of solar power and biomass generation (supplied by all the plant detritus the place creates). I don’t know if it’s entirely self sufficient or anything, but that’s what they say.
Even if it weren’t, what allowance we’re going to make for such attractions in an energy conscious future is an interesting question. We’re probably going to have to permit something like that being a little costly at some place and time I suspect. Critical judgement along those lines would bring an awful lot of shopping malls, airports, theme parks, sports stadiums, sky scrapers and so on into the firing line first I would think.

Just wanted to say thanks again for putting on a great QED! Now, I know that behind the scenes you guys are running around like headless chickens to make sure everything goes well, but from a punters point of the view the whole event seems to run effortlessly.
With one or two issues that need to be ironed out, UK skepticism seems to be in a very healthy place.
