Tedious trivia: General Butt Naked was a sort of commander of irregulars in the Liberian civil war of the 90s. He did indeed go in to battle with only shoes and a rifle from time to time. Totally real guy though.

Re Book of Mormon – I agree. The reason it works so well is because they have all the elements you want in a musical and they take the art form and the music very, very seriously. I’m about to see the Manchester show for the second time*. Last time I went there were actual Mormons proselytising just up the road from the theatre as we all exited the show. I was impressed by their cohones but, sadly, didn’t have time to stop and engage with them.
Also agree with Alice re the film of JC Superstar 🙂
* which will be my fourth time in total.
