*G* in Lasagne is not exactly silent. GN is digraph that represents /ɲ/.

Re: Naming of the Corona Virus
I had no idea my comment would be answered in such a comprehensive manner! Much appreciated, and points made have been taken onboard. I’m in New Zealand, and we’ve basically wiped the virus out completely here (12 days with no new cases). There was no widespread racism afaik toward Chinese folks here, although we do have a substantial Chinese community. Trump is an extremely polarising figure, so I understand the backlash toward his obvious deliberate race baiting.

Merseyside Skeptics mentality: “I am right therefore anyone who says something different must therefore be wrong, and by definition because they are wrong and I am right, their freedom of speech to be wrong doesn’t need to be taken into account.”

That’s right #3 how dare they argue a contrary position and back it up with evidence. They’re obviously persecuting the misinformed and wilfully ignorant.

Sorry for my previous dickish comment. The point poorly worded was that holding and defending a position while
deliberately ignoring the best available evidence, is not something to hold up as an inalienable right.
